IOLAIR pronounced Eye-oh-lair is from Gaelic and means EAGLE.
IOLAIR is a small private kennel, and I enjoy showing my dogs. I am on the A3 judges list for Belgian Shepherds and Australian Shepherds and B judges list for Finnish Lapphunds & C judges lists for Border Collie, Rough Collies, Shetland Sheepdogs and O.E.S., these being amongst my ‘special interest` breeds. I am the secretary of Irvine & District Canine Club and I enjoy stewarding at Open+Champ. shows and have "dabbled " in obedience! In the past I was a NBSDC Committee member and also served as Membership Secretary for some years. I served as Secretary of the Finnish Lapphund Club of GB until December 2008.
Having owned various breeds of dog over many years I at present own Tervuerens, Aussies and Finnish Lapphunds. All our dogs are loving, intelligent, active breeds of dog with a `sense of fun!` They make excellent all round dogs. Wonderful companions, beautiful show dogs, enthusiastic working, agility and obedience dogs, loyal and loving. Being pastoral breeds, all originally bred to work alongsides their owners, they need to be busy mentally and physically and are not the type of dog for the `couch potato` owner!
I very occasionally have puppies for sale, as we breed primarily for ourselves. Our main priority is to have Iolair puppies placed in loving permanent homes. All our dogs are Hip Scored and Eye Tested, before embarking on any breeding programme. I enjoy talking to other dog enthusiasts and am always happy to offer help when asked or exchange views and news with other dog lovers. I am also a Kennel Club Accredited Breeder.
